Buying guide

What lift operators need

A bucket truck safety harness is a full body harness designed for fall arrest, worn with a lanyard attached to the lift's designated anchor point. Pair it with a shock-absorbing or self-retracting lanyard of an appropriate length, scabbards that keep tools organized in the bucket, and accessories like covers and outrigger pads. Follow the lift manufacturer's instructions, ANSI A92, ANSI Z133 and your employer's policy, and inspect harnesses and lanyards before every use.

Tools in the bucket

Bucket truck and aerial lift scabbards hold hand saws, pole saws and pruners securely at the edge of the bucket so they are ready to grab and cannot fall. Bucket covers keep rain and debris out when the truck is parked. Outrigger pads and wheel chocks keep the truck stable. Keep the bucket uncluttered, and never use the bucket as a crane or tie-in point for rigging unless the manufacturer specifically allows it.

Inspect scabbards for cracks and worn retention.

Common questions

Can I use my climbing saddle in a bucket truck?

A tree climbing saddle is a work positioning harness, not a fall arrest harness. Use a full body harness for aerial lift fall protection unless the lift and policy allow otherwise.
