6' Web Retractable Safety Harness Lanyard

A retractable lanyard is the piece that turns a fall arrest harness into a retractable safety harness system: the web pays out as you move and locks if you fall. This 6-foot web unit keeps slack off the floor while letting you move around your work area.

Where a retractable lanyard fits

A retractable lanyard harness setup is common on rooftops, platforms and structures where you move around an anchor above you. Because it keeps the line short, it limits free fall distance compared with a standard shock-absorbing lanyard.

In aerial lifts, check carefully before using any self-retracting device. Bucket anchorages are often at or below the waist, and many retractables are rated only for overhead anchorage. Use only equipment the lift manufacturer and the device's instructions allow for that use.

A web lifeline is lighter and less bulky than a cable unit, and it is easier on surfaces it rubs against.

Inspection and training

Before each use, pull the web out fully and check it for cuts, burns and fraying, test that it locks with a sharp tug, and check the housing and connectors. Remove from service any unit that has arrested a fall or fails a check.

Keep the housing clean, store it out of the weather and never let the web retract uncontrolled.
