A fiberglass bucket protector with a built-in step for aerial lift work.
A fiberglass scuff pad with step fits over the edge of an aerial lift bucket to protect it from wear and gives the operator a step for getting in and out. It is a simple upgrade for tree and utility bucket trucks.
Bucket walls take a beating from boots, saws, branches and the boom rest. A scuff pad takes that wear instead of the bucket, and the built-in step makes climbing in and out at ground level easier and steadier, especially in wet or muddy conditions.
Swapping a worn pad is much cheaper than repairing or replacing a damaged bucket.
A scuff pad is also a good way to freshen up an older truck. Pair it with a bucket liner if your lift is rated for one, and keep tools in a holder rather than loose on the floor where they can scratch the bucket and trip the operator.
Measure your bucket and check the pad's fit before ordering. Install it per the instructions and make sure it does not interfere with the bucket's liner, controls or tool holders.
Fiberglass does not make an unrated bucket insulated. Follow the lift maker's instructions, OSHA and ANSI Z133 for electrical clearances, and wear your fall arrest harness and lanyard whenever you are in the bucket. Inspect the pad for cracks and loose mounts. See more bucket truck accessories.
If the pad cracks or the step loosens, replace it before someone slips getting in or out.
