Hook-on step for getting in and out of a bucket or truck bed safely.
A removable hook step gives you a solid foothold when climbing into a bucket, onto a truck bed, or up to a chip box. It hooks on where you need it and comes off for road travel or when it would be in the way.
Climbing in and out of a bucket or up onto a truck bed dozens of times a day is a common source of slips and strained knees. A proper step puts your foot on a flat, solid surface instead of a tire, a bumper edge or a wet lip. Because it hooks on, you can put it exactly where you need it and pull it off when the boom is moving or when you hit the road.
Check the fit on your bucket rim or truck edge before you rely on it, since lips and wall thicknesses vary.
A good step also cuts down on wear on the bucket lip and the truck body from boots scuffing their way up. Store it with the bucket gear so it is always on hand when the crew needs it.
Keep three points of contact while climbing, clean mud and chainsaw oil off the tread, and make sure the step is fully seated before you put weight on it. Never leave it hooked where it could catch a boom, a conductor or a passing vehicle. Bucket operators should be trained and follow the lift maker's instructions.

No. Remove it for road travel and whenever the boom is moving so it cannot fall or catch on anything.
