Bucket

The Estex Polycomb insert is a stiff panel made for 1-man bucket truck covers. It adds structure so the cover stays in shape and protects the bucket liner from rain, debris and sun when the truck is parked or on the road.

Why the insert matters

A bucket cover keeps rain, leaves and sawdust out of the bucket between jobs and while driving. Without a stiff panel, a cover can sag and fill with water. The Polycomb insert gives the cover structure, so it sheds water and stays put.

Make sure your cover is a 1-man Estex model. More bucket gear is in bucket truck accessories.

A well-kept cover also stops water and leaves building up in the bucket, which keeps the floor cleaner and less slippery when you climb in. Polycomb is a honeycomb-style panel that is light and stiff, so it supports the cover without making it heavy to take on and off.

Fit and care

Slide the insert into the cover as Estex describes and check the cover still fastens securely to the bucket. Secure the cover before driving so it cannot blow off.

Clean debris off the cover regularly and inspect the insert for cracks. Remember that covers and inserts are not part of the bucket's dielectric protection; keep the bucket liner and boom inspected and tested as your utility program requires.

If your existing insert is cracked or warped, the cover will sag and let water in. Replacing the insert is a cheap way to bring an older cover back into working shape without buying a whole new cover.
