SafeTree Bucket Truck Scabbard, Outside Mount

The SafeTree scabbard for the outside of a bucket truck bucket holds a pruning or pole saw blade where you can reach it without giving up room inside. The blade stays sheathed and off the floor.

Outside mount, more room inside

One-man buckets do not leave much room for your feet, a chainsaw, and a saw on the floor. An outside-mount scabbard moves the hand saw out of the way while keeping the handle within reach. Pull the saw, make the cut, and drop it back in without looking down.

Think about where it sits relative to the controls and the boom so it does not snag on limbs as you work in close.

Outside-mount scabbards also keep sap, sawdust and rainwater off the bucket floor, since the wet blade goes back into the scabbard rather than lying at your feet. That keeps footing better on a long day of trimming. Look at your bucket rim and the layout of your controls before deciding where it goes, and keep it on the side away from traffic when you park on the street.

Mounting and safe use

Follow SafeTree's mounting instructions and your lift maker's guidance on what can be attached to the bucket. Make sure nothing you add compromises a dielectric bucket. Check the scabbard and fasteners regularly for cracks or loosening. Bucket operators should be trained and qualified for the work they do.
