Maintenance

The Husqvarna chainsaw case known as the Classic is a hard plastic carrying case that holds a saw with the bar attached. It protects the saw in transport, keeps oil and sawdust off everything else, and makes storage in the garage or shop neat and simple.

Why a case is worth it

Most saw damage does not happen while cutting. It happens in transport: the saw slides into a toolbox, the clutch cover cracks on a tailgate, the chain dulls against a jack. A hard Husqvarna saw case stops that. It also keeps bar oil from leaking onto the carpet of your SUV or the floor of the shop.

Many people buy a Husqvarna chainsaw with case for exactly that reason, and the Classic is the case they reach for when replacing a worn one or adding a case for a saw that came without.

It is also the simplest way to keep a saw in good shape between uses. A saw stored in a case stays cleaner, its controls are not knocked out of place, and the chain stays sharp until the next job.

Homeowners like the case for the same reasons: a clean garage, a protected saw and a simple way to keep the saw away from kids.

Which saws fit

The Classic case is made for Husqvarna saws with the bar and chain fitted. Fit depends on the saw size and the bar length you run, so check the listing against your model before ordering. Larger saws and long bars may need a bigger case.

If you are not sure, measure your saw from the back of the handle to the tip of the bar and compare that with the case's interior length. A case for a Husqvarna chainsaw that is too tight forces the bar cover off or strains the latches.

If you run more than one saw, label the cases or keep each saw in its own color so the right saw goes out on the right job.

Transport and storage tips

Always fit the bar cover before closing the case, even inside it. Let the saw cool after use. For long storage, run the tank empty or use stabilized pre-mix so the carburetor stays clean. Wipe sawdust off the saw first so it does not pack into the cooling fins.

In a vehicle, secure the case so it cannot slide or tip. Keep a scrench, spare chain and a file nearby so the case is a ready-to-go kit. For bucket work, a bucket truck chainsaw scabbard is a better fit, and the Husqvarna PowerBox is another case option.

Clean the inside of the case when bar oil builds up. Warm soapy water and a rag are enough. Check the latches and hinges now and then, since a latch that pops open in transit lets the saw slide out. A case that cracks is cheaper to replace than the clutch cover it was protecting.

Before storage, also check the chain for damage and touch it up with a file so the saw is ready when you open the case next.
