Chainsaw Cases and Scabbards

Chainsaw cases keep a saw clean, contain bar oil and protect the chain on the ride between jobs. A good chain saw case is also safer to carry through brush than a bare bar.

Buying guide

Case or scabbard

A full hard case protects the whole saw and keeps oil off seats and other gear, which matters if saws ride in a cab or an enclosed trailer. Check the listed bar length the case fits before you buy.

A bar scabbard covers just the bar and chain. It is lighter and quicker on and off for saws that go in and out of the truck all day. Use one any time you carry a saw through a crowd of crew or customers.

Getting the most from a chainsaw case

Drain or tighten fuel and oil caps before a saw goes in a case, and let a hot saw cool before closing the lid. Clean sawdust out of the case now and then so it does not hold moisture against the bar.

Cases with room for a file, wrench and spare chain keep a saw kit together, which helps on jobs where saws get handed around. For saws that ride in an open truck bed, a case also cuts down on dings to the handle and covers. Label cases by saw if your crew runs several of the same model.

Common questions

Will a chainsaw case fit a longer bar?

Only up to its listed bar length. A longer bar will not close in the case and can damage the chain.
