Bar cover that protects the chain, your hands and the truck in transport.
A Husqvarna chainsaw bar scabbard slips over the bar and chain whenever the saw is not running. It protects your hands and the truck bed, and keeps the cutters from being dulled by rocks and tools.
Scabbards go missing on every crew. They get left on stumps, run over, or tossed in the brush pile. Running without one means a sharp chain banging against tools in the truck bed and a saw you have to carry carefully every time. A fresh scabbard keeps your chain sharp and your legs safe when you walk the saw to the next cut.
Pick the size that covers your full bar length.
Replacement scabbards are also worth having when you move to a new bar length, since an old short cover leaves the nose exposed. Many crews color mark their scabbards to match the saws so the right cover goes back on the right bar when the day ends.
Put the scabbard on whenever the saw is off and being moved or stored. Check that it clips or holds firmly on the bar. Keep a spare in the truck, since that is cheaper than a ruined chain. Saw operators should be trained and wear chaps or saw pants, eye, ear and head protection.
Replace a scabbard that is cracked or no longer grips the bar, since one that slides off is worse than useless.
