A simple steel swivel snap for tool lines, bags and light gear handling.
A steel swivel snap hook is a basic snap with a rotating eye, handy for gear lines, bag handles, tool tethers and other non-life-support jobs. The swivel keeps lines from twisting as loads spin.
A plain swivel snap gets used constantly on a tree crew. Tie one onto a gear line to send tools up, clip a rope bag to the saddle, hang a water jug on the truck, or tether a pole saw head. The swivel stops the line from spinning itself into knots when the load turns.
Pick a size that suits the line you are tying it to and the rings or loops you clip it into. Compare these with our rated snap hooks if you need a locking snap for climbing.
Keep a few in the truck. They are cheap enough to leave on gear lines and bags permanently, and having the right clip on hand saves tying and untying knots all day. Look for a smooth swivel and a gate that snaps shut on its own.
A generic snap like this is not a life-support connector. It must not be used in a climbing line, lanyard, fall protection or rigging that controls a heavy piece of wood. Those jobs need rated, self-locking hardware used within ANSI Z133 practice.
Check the gate spring and swivel now and then. Replace the snap if the gate does not close, the swivel binds, or the steel is badly corroded.
