A tool-tethering carabiner for keeping small tools attached when you work at height.
The Pensafe tool tether carabiner is made for clipping tool lanyards and small gear to your saddle, belt or bucket so nothing falls on the crew below. It is an accessory carabiner for tool control, not life support.
A dropped wrench or hand saw from 40 feet can seriously hurt a groundie or punch through a roof. Tethering tools is a simple way to cut that risk, especially in bucket work over traffic or near houses, where the drop zone is hard to keep clear.
A tool tether carabiner gives you a dedicated, quick clip point for tool lanyards. Clip it to a gear loop or bucket rail, then clip the tool's lanyard to it. Keep tool tethers on their own clip points so they never get mixed up with your climbing system.
On a crew, set a simple rule that every tool going aloft gets tethered, and keep a few spare carabiners and tool lanyards in the truck so no one is tempted to skip it.
This is an accessory carabiner. Never use it in your climbing system, as a lanyard connector, or for rigging. Life-support connectors must be rated and used per ANSI Z133 and the maker's instructions. Check the tool weight limit on the tether and lanyard you pair it with.
Inspect the gate and body for bends, sharp edges and grit, and replace it if the gate sticks. For rated connectors, see our carabiners and hardware range.
