A compact quick link for semi-permanent connections in a climbing setup.
The Petzl Speedy Link is a quick link for climbing setups where a semi-permanent, low-profile connection beats a bulky carabiner. Screw it closed and it stays closed, which makes it a tidy choice for attaching hardware that rarely comes off.
Quick links shine for connections you set once and leave: attaching a pulley to a saddle, closing a rope bridge setup or holding a device in a fixed position. With no spring gate to snag, they sit flat and behave predictably.
They are slower to open than a carabiner, so they are not the right choice for anything you clip and unclip all day.
They also make sense where a carabiner gate could be pushed open by a limb or another piece of hardware. With the sleeve screwed closed, there is no gate to snag, which can make a quick link the cleaner choice in a crowded spot on the saddle.
A quick link is only as strong as its closure. Screw the sleeve fully closed every time, and check that it stays tight during the day. Look for thread damage, deformation and corrosion. Life-support gear has to meet the applicable standard and the manufacturer's instructions, get inspected before every climb, and be used only by trained climbers.
Check the rating marked on the link and the manufacturer's instructions before using it in any life-support position. Not every quick link is rated for climbing, and only those that are should go anywhere near your system. Keep general hardware-store links out of your kit altogether.

Specs are from the manufacturer's published figures where available. Confirm against the product listing before you buy.
It depends on the specific products. Read the rating on the link and the instructions, and never use it beyond those limits.
Follow the manufacturer's instructions. Many are closed firmly by hand; a sleeve that will not stay tight means it is time to replace it.
