ClimbingPro grade

The Notch Magneato is a short tether with a magnetic catch that keeps a Rope Runner or similar device organized on your saddle. It reduces fumbling when you switch between ascending, working, and descending.

What the Magneato does

When you climb on a mechanical device, small handling details add up: where the device rides, how you grab it, and how quickly you can get it back in position after you unclip. The Magneato gives the device a consistent parking spot with a magnetic catch, so you can find it by feel and keep it from flopping around while you work.

It is an organizing accessory. It does not replace your bridge, your connecting carabiner, or any part of your life-support system.

Climbers who work all day on SRS tend to set up their saddle the same way every time so their hands go to the right spot without looking. A magnetic catch supports that habit: the device lands in the same place each time you park it, and you can grab it with a gloved hand while your other hand holds the saw or the rope.

Before you add it

Check fit with your saddle and device, and make sure the tether cannot interfere with your hitch, device cam, or carabiner gate. Look over the carabiners and hardware in our carabiners and hardware section for life-support connectors.

Life-support gear must meet the applicable standard (ANSI Z133 and the manufacturer's instructions), be inspected before every climb, and be used only by trained climbers.

Keep the magnetic catch clean of metal filings and grit, and check that the tether material and stitching are in good shape.
