This Echo CS-2511T muffler from Westcoast Saw replaces a damaged or worn muffler on Echo's small top-handle saw. It is a straightforward fix for a climbing saw that is running hot, loud or down on power.

When to replace the muffler

A muffler on a top-handle saw lives a hard life. It gets packed with sawdust and sap, bumped against the trunk and baked on long climbs. Cracked housings, broken mounts or a spark arrestor screen clogged with carbon will make the saw run hot, lose power and get louder.

The CS-2511T is light and quick, which is why so many climbers keep one on the saddle for pruning and small limbs. Keeping the exhaust in good shape is part of keeping that small engine healthy, along with clean filters and fresh, correctly mixed fuel.

Westcoast Saw is known for parts and modifications aimed at the top-handle saws climbers depend on. If the original muffler on your CS-2511T is cracked or loose at its mounts, a replacement is a quicker fix than waiting on a dealer order, and it gets the saw back on the saddle.

Fitting and running it

Let the saw cool before working near the muffler. Fit new gaskets if they are damaged, tighten the bolts evenly and check them again after the first tank. If your area or job needs a spark arrestor, make sure one is fitted. A change to exhaust flow can change how the saw runs, so have the carburetor checked if it is not idling or accelerating cleanly. Wear hearing protection whenever the saw is running. More top-handle parts are in our parts section.
