A tune-up kit with the wear parts a 445 or 450 needs each season.
This Husqvarna chainsaw tune-up kit bundles common wear parts for the Husqvarna 445 and 450 saws, so you can service your saw in one go. Fresh filters and a new spark plug fix a lot of hard-starting and low-power problems.
Chainsaws do not usually fail all at once. They get harder to start, lose a bit of power, smoke a bit more and start to stall. Most of the time, the cause is a set of cheap wear parts: a dirty air filter, a clogged fuel filter or a tired spark plug. A Husqvarna maintenance kit puts those parts together in one package for your saw.
The 445 and 450 are popular saws with landowners and part-time cutters, and many of them get used hard during storm season and firewood time, then sit for months. A once-a-season tune-up keeps them ready for the next time you need them.
Start with a cool saw on a clean bench. Clean the outside of the saw, especially around the air filter cover and the fuel cap. Replace the air filter, remove and replace the spark plug, gapped to the figure in your manual, and fish out the fuel filter from the tank to replace it. Check the fuel line for cracks while you are there.
Then look at the rest of the saw. Clean the cooling fins and the starter area, check the bar rails, sprocket and chain, and make sure the chain brake works. Fill with fresh fuel and bar oil and run it through a few cuts.
Keep a simple log of when you did each tune-up. A strip of tape inside the saw case with the date is enough. It is easy to lose track of when you last changed filters, especially if the saw only runs a few weeks a year.
Hard starting, rough idle, bogging under load, loss of power or excessive smoke are all reasons to service the saw. Many people search for a husqvarna chainsaw tune-up kit after a saw that ran well last fall will not start this spring. Old fuel is often part of the problem, so drain old fuel before you start.
If a new plug, filters and fresh fuel do not fix it, the saw may need carburetor or other service. Take it to a qualified shop.
Using fresh fuel and running the carburetor dry before storage prevents most of these problems in the first place. Pre-mixed fuel is a good choice for saws that sit for long stretches between uses.
This kit is listed for the 445 and 450. Other Husqvarna models use different parts, so check your model number before ordering. If you run a Husqvarna 450 Rancher, this kit is made for your saw. For other models, browse chainsaw parts for individual filters and plugs.
Wear gloves when handling the chain and work in a ventilated area away from flames when draining fuel.
