MaintenancePro grade

This replacement Husqvarna 562XP clutch drum is set up for 3/8 in pitch chain with a 7-tooth drive. Swap it in when the drum is worn or when you change the saw over to 3/8 in chain for bigger bars and wood.

When to replace the clutch drum

The drum takes the clutch's full load and the chain's wear. Look for deep grooves worn into the drive teeth or rim, a bluish heat-discolored inner surface from a slipping clutch, or a drum that wobbles on the shaft. A worn drum chews through new chains, so change it on the same schedule as a couple of chain replacements.

Pitch has to match across the chain, bar, and drive. If you are switching the 562XP from .325 to 3/8 in chain, you need a 3/8 in drum and a bar with a matching nose sprocket.

Changing pitch is a common upgrade for crews who want the 562XP to pull longer bars in bigger wood.

Installing it

Remove the clutch cover, bar, and chain, then take off the clutch to reach the drum. Check the needle bearing and grease it or replace it if it feels rough. Reinstall the clutch per the manual, note that it usually loosens clockwise, and fit a chain of matching pitch.

Shut the engine off, let it cool, and remove the spark plug boot or battery before working on the saw. Follow the Husqvarna workshop or operator manual for torque and reassembly, and test-run the saw before it goes back in service. Find more in chainsaw parts.
