Replacement drive-side cover for the Husqvarna T540i XP battery top-handle saw.
The Husqvarna T540i XP clutch cover is the drive-side cover that holds the bar and covers the sprocket on Husqvarna's battery top-handle saw. Replace it when the cover is cracked, the studs strip it or the chain catcher area is chewed up.
On a top-handle the side cover gets knocked against limbs, dropped on the lanyard and cranked down over and over at every bar change. A cracked cover, worn bar-nut seats or a damaged tension area means the bar can creep and the chain goes loose mid-cut. That is a problem on any saw, and a bigger one when you are working off a rope.
Even though the T540i XP is battery powered, the side cover is called the clutch cover by most parts lists. Pull the battery before any work on the saw, clean packed chips out of the sprocket area, then fit the new cover and tension the chain to spec.
Battery saws pack chips into the sprocket area just like gas saws, and on a climbing saw that mess often goes unnoticed until the chain starts to bind. Pop the cover off at the end of the day and brush the area out. That is also a good time to look at the bar rails and sprocket, since a worn sprocket wears new chain quickly.
Top-handle saws are for trained climbers working aloft. Tie the saw in to a saw lanyard, keep the chain brake working and tension the chain at every battery swap. Check the bar nuts are tight before you go back up. Find more service parts in our parts section.

No. This cover is for the battery T540i XP. The gas T540 XP uses different parts.
A scrench is usually all it takes. Remove the battery first and check that the bar and chain are seated correctly before tightening.
