Replacement recoil starter rope for the Husqvarna 395XP.
This Husqvarna 395XP starter cord replaces the recoil rope on one of the biggest saws in a tree crew's lineup. A high-compression saw puts real load on the cord, and a frayed rope tends to snap at the worst time.
Starting a 90cc-class saw takes a firm pull, and every pull rubs the cord on the starter housing and handle. Pulling at an angle, letting the handle snap back, and working in grit all speed up wear.
Look for fuzzing, flat spots, or a cord that has been knotted short. Replace it before it breaks.
A spare starter cord rolled up in the truck box weighs nothing and can save a trip back to the shop when a cord snaps mid-job.
Remove the starter assembly, release the spring tension, and pull the old cord out. Feed the new cord through the pulley and handle, tie it off, and wind the pulley to preload the spring per the service manual so the handle returns snug without bottoming out the spring.
Pull the cord out fully once the starter is back together to confirm the spring has enough reserve, then let it retract slowly to check that the handle seats properly.
Fit a new handle too if the old one is cracked. Confirm the part number against your saw's model and serial plate or the manufacturer's parts lookup before ordering, since parts can change between production runs. More 395XP parts are listed here.

Specs are from the manufacturer's published figures where available. Confirm against the product listing before you buy.
Use rope of the correct diameter and length for the saw. Too thick a rope will not wind fully, and too thin wears out fast.
Follow the service manual. The handle should sit snug against the housing, and the pulley should still turn a little further when the cord is fully pulled out.
