Replacement ignition stop switch for the Husqvarna 372XP.
This Husqvarna 372XP stop switch replaces the start/stop control that grounds the ignition to kill the engine. A worn or broken switch can leave the saw unable to start or, worse, unable to shut off, and that needs fixing before the saw goes back to work.
On the 372XP the stop switch grounds the ignition module. If the switch sticks in the stop position, the saw will crank without firing. If the switch or its wire is broken, the saw may keep running when you flip it to stop, which means shutting it off with the choke and taking it out of service.
Before you replace the switch, check the kill wire for chafing or a loose connection under the top cover.
A reliable stop switch is a basic safety control. If you cannot kill the saw instantly, you cannot react safely when something goes wrong in the cut.
Remove the top cover and air filter area as described in the service manual, disconnect the old switch, and fit the new one so it moves cleanly between run and stop. Test that the saw stops every time before it goes back on the truck.
Keep the area around the switch clean, since packed sawdust and resin can stop it from moving fully into the stop position. Check its function as part of your daily saw inspection along with the chain brake and throttle lockout.
Confirm the part number against your saw's model and serial plate or the manufacturer's parts lookup before ordering, since parts can change between production runs. See more Husqvarna parts.

Often it is the switch or a broken ground wire. Do not use the saw until it shuts off reliably with the stop control.
Yes. A switch stuck in the stop position or a shorted wire grounds the ignition and prevents a spark.
