Replacement trigger for the T540iXP. Smooth throttle and a lockout that works.
The Husqvarna T540iXP trigger assembly controls chain speed on the battery top-handle saw. A sticking, broken or unresponsive trigger makes a climbing saw unsafe and frustrating, so replace it rather than work around it.
The trigger on a top-handle saw sees constant use, and sawdust, sap and drops wear it down. If the trigger sticks, doesn't return, feels gritty, or the saw doesn't respond properly, check the trigger assembly. A trigger that doesn't spring back is a safety problem.
Also check the trigger lockout, which should stop the trigger from moving unless it is pressed.
On a battery saw, the trigger controls an electronic speed controller, so it needs to move smoothly and return reliably. Climbers who use the T540iXP for pruning and removals pull the trigger thousands of times a day, so wear is expected over time. Keep the handle area clean, store the saw dry and avoid washing it with water. A smooth, reliable trigger makes the saw safer and more comfortable to use.
Remove the battery. Open the handle, note how the trigger, springs and lockout fit together, and install the new assembly in the same way. Make sure wires and switches are not pinched.
Never tie, tape or wedge a trigger or lockout to get around a fault. Fix the part instead.
After assembly, check that the trigger only works with the lockout pressed and returns fully when released. Top-handle saws are for trained arborists. More T540iXP parts are in our chainsaw parts section.

Sawdust, sap or a worn or broken spring are common causes. Clean it first and replace if needed.
