Replacement flywheel-side housing half for the T540iXP battery top-handle saw.
This Husqvarna T540iXP chassis is the flywheel-side housing half of the battery top-handle saw. Top-handle saws get dropped, banged against trunks and hung off saddles, and a cracked chassis can let in dust and moisture or leave internal parts loose.
Husqvarna's parts diagrams use the terms flywheel side and clutch side for the two chassis halves, even on the battery saw. If the flywheel-side half is cracked, has broken screw bosses, or won't hold the other parts tight, replacing it is the right fix.
A damaged housing can let sawdust and water reach the motor and electronics, which leads to bigger repairs.
Battery top-handle saws are lighter and quieter than gas saws, but the housing still has to hold the motor, electronics and bar together under load. A cracked chassis can let in moisture and dust, cause wires to chafe and lead to intermittent faults. If you see cracks after a fall or rough handling, replace the chassis half before it causes more problems. Inspect the saw after any drop.
Remove the battery first. Taking a battery saw apart to swap a chassis half is a careful job: note wire routing and component positions, and transfer the parts to the new housing. Many owners have a dealer do it.
Top-handle saws are for trained arborists working from a secure position. Test all controls and the chain brake after reassembly. Find the matching clutch-side chassis and more parts in our chainsaw parts section.

It is Husqvarna's parts-list name for the side opposite the bar and chain.
It can be, but it involves moving the motor and electronics. A dealer can do it if you are unsure.
