Complete recoil starter for the 460 Rancher. Bolt it on and pull.
The Husqvarna 460 Rancher starter assembly is a complete recoil starter for the 460 Rancher. When the housing is cracked, the rope won't rewind, or the starter slips, a full assembly is often quicker and more reliable than rebuilding piece by piece.
The 460 Rancher is a popular saw for firewood, storm cleanup and ground work on tree crews. Its starter takes a lot of pulls, and the housing can crack if the saw is dropped or tossed into the truck. If the rope won't return, the starter slips without turning the engine, or the housing is broken, a complete assembly gets you back running fast.
Rebuilding with individual parts works too, but if several pieces are worn, the full assembly is often the better buy.
The 460 Rancher is popular with homeowners and crews alike for firewood, storm cleanup and ground work. Because it gets used by a lot of different people, starters often take abuse: rope yanked at an angle, the saw started on the ground without a firm grip, or dropped on the starter side. A new starter assembly is an easy fix, and it often brings a saw that has been hard to start back to life.
Remove the screws holding the old starter to the saw, lift it off, and clean the flywheel area of sawdust. Fit the new assembly, making sure the pawls engage the flywheel correctly, then tighten the screws evenly.
Pull the rope slowly a few times to make sure it engages and rewinds smoothly before starting the saw. More 460 Rancher parts are in our chainsaw parts section.
