MaintenanceClimbingPro grade

This Husqvarna T540XP seal is a replacement part for Husqvarna's top-handle climbing saw. A worn seal lets air or oil past, and on a saw you depend on in the tree, a steady idle and clean running matter.

A reliable climbing saw

When you're tied in at the top of a tree, a saw that won't idle, dies on you, or creeps the chain is more than a nuisance. Seal leaks are one cause of an unstable idle. Confirm which seal your saw needs using the Husqvarna parts diagram for your model and serial.

Climbing saws also get a lot of start-stop use, which is hard on the engine. Fixing a leak early saves you from a bigger repair later. Check the intake boot and impulse line at the same time.

Installing and testing

Use the correct tools to remove and seat seals without damaging the lip or the crankshaft. Pressure and vacuum test the engine after the repair.

Top-handle saws are for trained arborists working in trees. Follow the operator's manual and ANSI Z133.

If your saw idles poorly or creeps the chain, set it aside until it's fixed. A properly tuned saw that returns to idle and stops the chain is essential when working at height. If you're unsure, have a qualified shop do the repair and run a pressure and vacuum test. Keep a log of repairs on each climbing saw so the crew knows its history.
