The screw that holds the 395XP muffler support. Lose it and things shake loose.
This Husqvarna 395XP muffler screw secures the muffler support on the 395XP. A big-bore saw shakes hard, and if a muffler screw backs out the muffler can rattle, crack, leak exhaust or let hot gases near parts that shouldn't see them.
On a 94 cc saw used for felling and bucking big wood, muffler hardware takes a beating from heat and vibration. Make checking it part of routine service. A loose muffler often shows up as a new rattle, black soot around the joint, or a muffler that moves when you push on it.
Running with loose muffler hardware can crack the muffler or damage the gasket and the cylinder threads.
The 395XP is often the biggest saw on a tree truck, used for felling big trees, bucking trunk wood and storm cleanup. It also produces a lot of heat and vibration, so muffler hardware gets loose more often than on smaller saws. Keeping a few spare screws for the muffler and support in the parts bin saves a lot of downtime. Check them every time you clean the saw.
Let the saw cool fully. Clean the threads and fit the new screw, then tighten to the torque in the service manual. Heat cycles can loosen exhaust fasteners, so check them again after the first few hours of running.
If the gasket is burnt or broken, replace it at the same time. More 395XP parts are in our Husqvarna chainsaw parts section.
