Intake boot for the original 550XP. Stops air leaks that make the saw run lean.
This Husqvarna 550XP inlet pipe assembly is the intake boot that joins the carburetor to the cylinder on the original 550XP. A cracked or loose boot lets in extra air, which shows up as surging, a high idle and lost power, and it can cook the top end if ignored.
On a fuel-injected or AutoTune saw, the electronics adjust fuel to the air they expect. An intake boot leak throws that off. The saw may sound like it is screaming at idle, hang at high revs, or fall off when you tip it into a cut. On a saw you use all day for limbing and bucking, you will feel it.
Old 550XPs are now old enough that the rubber is hardening, so the boot is worth checking on any saw that suddenly won't run right.
This page covers the part some old listings spelled as the intel pipe. It is the inlet pipe, the same part Husqvarna lists for the intake between carburetor and cylinder. If you are chasing a lean condition, check the impulse line and the crank seals as well, since they cause the same symptoms. A pressure and vacuum test will point you to the actual leak before you start replacing parts.
Remove the air filter and carburetor, then work the old boot off the cylinder. Clean the mating surfaces and press the new inlet pipe on until it seats evenly all the way around. Refit the carb and check that the throttle and choke move freely.
If you are not sure which 550XP you have, the Mark II has a different intake and its own part. More service parts are in our Husqvarna parts section.

The Mark II is marked as such on the saw. Check the model label before ordering intake parts.
Heat and age harden the rubber, and careless carb removal can tear it.
