Replacement centrifugal clutch for the Husqvarna 562XP chainsaw.
This Husqvarna 562XP clutch assembly replaces the centrifugal clutch that drives the chain on the 60cc pro saw. A worn or broken clutch can slip under load, make the chain creep at idle or throw clutch pieces.
The clutch engages as engine speed rises and lets go at idle. When the shoes wear or the springs fatigue, the chain may keep turning at idle, the saw may slip and smell hot in a deep cut, or you may hear rattling from the clutch side.
Chain movement at idle is a safety issue. If adjusting the idle does not stop it, the clutch needs attention.
Clutch problems often start with the chain. Running a dull chain makes you push harder and slip the clutch more, which heats and wears the shoes. Keeping chains sharp and the right tension takes a lot of load off the drivetrain. Also clean the clutch area regularly, since packed sawdust and oil around the drum hold heat and wear parts faster.
Remove the bar, chain and clutch cover, fit a piston stop through the plug hole and unscrew the clutch with the correct tool. Note that most Husqvarna clutches use a left-hand thread. Inspect the clutch drum, sprocket and needle bearing and replace any that are worn.
Fit the new clutch, torque it per the service manual and test the idle. Sprockets and other 562XP parts are in our chainsaw parts section.

Husqvarna clutches typically use a left-hand thread, so turn clockwise to loosen. Confirm in the service manual.
If the sprocket or drum is worn, yes. A worn sprocket also wears out new chain faster.
