A replacement clutch assembly for the Husqvarna 372XP X-Torque.
This Husqvarna 372XP clutch assembly is a replacement for the X-Torque version of the 372XP, a go-to 70 cc class saw on tree crews. A good clutch grabs the chain smoothly under throttle and releases it at idle.
Slipping in the cut, a burning smell, a blue or glazed drum, or a chain that turns at idle all point toward the clutch. Rule out a high idle setting first, then pull the clutch and look for broken springs or worn shoes.
Make sure you order the X-Torque version if that is your saw. More parts are in our power equipment parts.
The 372XP X-Torque is often a crew's main ground saw, so a worn clutch can sideline the whole job. Keeping a spare clutch on hand is common for crews running more than one of them.
Disconnect the plug, use a piston stop, and use the correct clutch tool. The clutch threads are reverse on many saws, so check the service manual.
Inspect and replace the drum, rim sprocket, and needle bearing if worn, grease the bearing, and confirm the chain stops at idle after reassembly.
If the chain still creeps at idle after a new clutch, recheck the idle setting and the carburetor tune. Store the saw with the chain brake engaged and make sure the brake works before every use. Clean sawdust out from behind the clutch cover whenever it is off. Dispose of worn springs and shoes so they don't get reinstalled by mistake.

Not necessarily. Match it to your exact model and serial number.
A worn rim sprocket eats chains and loads the clutch unevenly.
