Replacement stop switch for the Husqvarna 395XP big-bore chainsaw.
This Husqvarna 395XP on/off switch is the stop switch that grounds the ignition to shut the engine down. A faulty switch can stop the 94cc saw from starting, or worse, stop it from shutting off.
On a big saw like the 395XP, being able to kill the engine instantly is a safety requirement. A worn or broken switch, or a damaged wire, can leave the saw running when you hit stop. Do not keep working with a saw that will not shut off.
The opposite failure is common too: a switch or wire that shorts to ground will keep the saw from making a spark, so it will not start at all.
Switches wear out from use, but they also get knocked, packed with sawdust and soaked in bar oil. Keep the area around the switch clean, and check that it clicks firmly between positions. If the switch feels mushy or moves without much resistance, test the saw's stop function before your next job, and plan a replacement. A dependable stop switch is part of running any saw safely.
With the saw off and cool, remove the covers needed to reach the switch and disconnect the wire. Fit the new switch, reconnect the wire and route it so it cannot rub through on a sharp edge. Test that the saw starts and that the switch stops it every time before it goes back in service.
If you are unsure about ignition wiring, have a dealer do it. More 395XP parts are in our chainsaw parts section.

Often it is the switch or its wire. Stop using the saw and repair it before it goes back to work. Choke the engine to stall it if needed.
Yes. If the switch or its wire is grounding the ignition all the time, the saw will not make a spark.
