MaintenancePro grade

This Husqvarna 395XP handle insert is a replacement part for the handle assembly on the 395XP, one of the big saws crews still keep for large-diameter felling and bucking. A loose, cracked, or worn handle piece makes a 90-plus cc saw harder to control, so it is worth fixing.

Why handle parts matter on a big saw

The 395XP is a heavy saw, and on a long bar it puts a lot of leverage into your hands. Every bit of slop in the handle adds fatigue and makes it harder to hold a clean line through a felling cut or a big round.

Handle inserts and bushings wear, crack, or get chewed up after years of being dropped on the truck bed and dragged through brush. Replacing the insert is a small job that makes an old saw feel tight again.

It is also a good time to look at the antivibration mounts and handle bolts. Worn AV springs make a big saw buzz in your hands, and a handle that moves under load usually means more than one part is tired.

Ordering and installing

The 395XP was built for many years, so check the illustrated parts list for your serial number and match the part number before ordering. You will find related pieces in power equipment parts.

Work on a cool saw with the chain brake on and the plug wire off. Torque fasteners to spec and check that the throttle, throttle lockout, and chain brake all work properly before starting it back up.

Keep the old part until the new one is fitted so you can compare shape and mounting points side by side.
