Replacement gaskets for servicing a Husqvarna T540XP top-handle saw.
A Husqvarna T540XP gasket kit gives you the replacement gaskets you need when a top-handle saw is opened up for engine or carburetor work. Old gaskets that are torn or compressed can let in air, and an air leak makes a saw run lean, hot and unpredictable.
The T540XP is a hard-working climbing saw, and top-handle saws get a lot of heat cycles, vibration and drops. Any time you pull the muffler, carburetor or cylinder, the old gaskets are compromised. Reusing them is a common cause of air leaks, and an air leak lets the engine run lean, which can lead to high idle, poor throttle response and, at worst, a scored piston.
A gasket kit puts fresh seals back into the saw so it holds the tune it was set to. If you are chasing a saw that will not idle or surges at the top end, a pressure and vacuum test is the right place to start before you replace parts.
Clean every mating surface completely, fit the gaskets dry unless the service manual says otherwise, and torque fasteners evenly. Confirm the kit contents match the job you are doing, since some kits cover only certain gaskets.
If you are not comfortable with engine work, have a qualified dealer handle it; a climbing saw needs to be dependable at height. Find more Husqvarna power equipment parts for the rest of the job.
While the saw is apart, it is a good time to check the fuel line, impulse line, intake boot and filter for cracks or hardening, since those also cause air leaks. Fixing everything at once saves opening the saw twice.

It is not recommended. Compressed or torn gaskets are a common source of air leaks, and new ones are inexpensive compared to engine damage.
A high or hanging idle, surging, poor response to tuning, and a saw that runs hot are typical signs. A pressure and vacuum test confirms it.
