Replacement fuel or bar oil tank cap for the Husqvarna T540XP Mark II top-handle saw.
This Husqvarna T540XP Mark II fuel cap assembly replaces a leaking, cracked or lost tank cap on the gas top-handle saw. A cap that does not seal can drip fuel or bar oil on your saddle and clothing, or let debris into the tank.
A top-handle saw hangs off your saddle at odd angles all day. A cap with a worn seal will weep fuel or oil onto your gear and down your leg. That is a mess, a fire risk around a hot muffler and a slip hazard on the saw's handle.
Caps also get cross-threaded, cracked or dropped from the canopy. Carrying a spare is cheap insurance on a long removal.
Mark the caps with a paint pen if your crew has trouble telling fuel and oil apart on the ground, especially if several saws share a fueling station. Mixing them up is a costly mistake. Some climbers also clip a spare cap in the saw kit, since it is easy to set a cap on a limb during refueling aloft and watch it roll off into the brush below.
Confirm which tank your cap is for, since fuel and bar oil caps are often marked differently. Clean the filler neck threads before fitting the new cap and tighten it by hand until it seats. Wipe chips away from the cap before opening it to refuel.
If the saw still leaks with a new cap, check the tank vent and the tank itself. More T540XP parts are in our chainsaw parts section.

Check the parts listing for your exact model before ordering. Mark II parts are not always interchangeable with earlier versions.
Some oil seepage from the bar oil system is normal on many saws. Store the saw upright and check that the cap seal is in good shape.
