In-tank fuel filter for Husqvarna 545, 550XP and 562XP chainsaws.
This Husqvarna 550XP fuel filter is listed to fit the 545, 550XP and 562XP, which makes it a handy spare for crews running more than one of these saws. It sits on the end of the fuel line in the tank and keeps grit out of the carburetor.
The 545, 550XP and 562XP are common ground saws on tree crews, used for limbing, bucking and feeding the chipper. Fuel filters wear out quietly, and the first sign is usually a saw that will not hold full throttle. Having one filter that fits several saws keeps the parts bin simple.
If you run Mark II versions, confirm fitment for your model before ordering.
A clogged filter often gets mistaken for a carburetor problem. Before adjusting the mix screws or ordering a carb kit, pull the filter and look at it. If it is dark, gummy or packed with debris, replace it and test the saw again. Many times that is all it takes. Keep a few in the truck, since a ten-dollar part should never be the reason a saw sits out a day.
Drain the tank, hook the fuel line out through the filler neck and pull the old filter off. Push the new one on firmly so it cannot slip off, then drop it back to the bottom of the tank. Replace the fuel line too if it is stiff, cracked or swollen.
Keep the saw's fuel fresh and the cap area clean, and the filter will last longer. More service items are in our chainsaw parts section.

Bogging or dying under throttle, loss of power in the cut and a saw that will not keep running after starting.
