MaintenancePro grade

This Husqvarna 550XP Mark II cylinder gasket is a new seal for when the cylinder comes off for a piston, rings, or a cleanup after a lean seize. The 550XP Mark II is a common ground saw on tree crews, and gaskets are worth keeping in the parts bin.

When you need one

Scored piston, broken ring, or a cylinder pulled to check for damage: each one means a new gasket. The old gasket has already been compressed and will not seal again reliably.

Order the gasket with any other top-end parts so the saw is not down twice. See our power equipment parts for the rest.

Small parts like this are easy to forget until the saw is in pieces on the bench. If you run several 550XP Mark II saws, keep a few gaskets in the parts drawer so a rebuild doesn't stall waiting for shipping.

Getting a good seal

Clean the surfaces carefully, follow the bolt torque and pattern in the service manual, and pressure and vacuum test the engine if you can.

An air leak after a rebuild makes the saw run lean and hot. Fix the cause of the original failure, often a dirty filter or an air leak, before running it hard.

Before the saw goes back to work, check the air filter, fuel filter, and intake boot, and retune the carburetor. A new gasket won't save an engine that is still running lean. Confirm the part number for your serial range, as small changes over a production run can affect fit.
