A replacement air filter for the Husqvarna 562XP, a mid-size workhorse saw.
This Husqvarna 562XP air filter replaces a clogged or damaged filter on the saw. A clean filter keeps sawdust out of the engine and lets the saw hold its power and tune through a long day of cutting.
A chainsaw breathes sawdust all day. When the filter loads up, the engine runs rich, loses power, and gets hard to start. When a filter tears or does not seal, fine dust goes straight into the cylinder and scores the piston. Either way, a cheap filter decides how long an expensive engine lasts.
The 562XP is a mid-size pro saw that tree crews run hard on removals and bucking. AutoTune adjusts for a dirty filter up to a point, but it cannot make up for one that is caked or torn, so keep the filter clean and replace it when it is worn.
A filter that looks clean can still be clogged deep in the mesh or felt, so hold it up to a light when you check it. If you cut a lot of dry, dusty wood or run the saw through dirty storm debris, plan on cleaning it more than once a day and swapping it out sooner.
Check the filter daily on a working saw. Tap or brush off loose dust, and wash it in warm soapy water if the manufacturer allows, then let it dry fully before refitting. Replace it when it is torn, warped, oil-soaked, or no longer seals against its seat. Clean around the filter cover before removing it so debris does not fall into the intake.
Shut the saw off and let it cool before servicing. Follow the operator manual, and find more in chainsaw parts.

Inspect it daily and clean it as needed. Replace it when it is damaged, will not come clean, or no longer seals.
No. Even short running without a filter can pull dust into the engine and cause wear.
