The Silky Ibuki is a 390mm curved hand saw with a scabbard, made for cutting big limbs fast without starting a chainsaw. The long curved blade pulls into the cut and takes big bites.
The Silky Ibuki is built for cutting big wood by hand. A 390 mm curved blade pulls into the cut on the pull stroke, so you spend less effort pushing the saw and more time cutting. That length handles limbs that would take forever with a short folding saw, and it can save you from starting a saw for a few cuts in a crown.
A hand saw is also quiet and has no fuel, chain, or kickback, which makes it a good choice near homes, in tight crowns, and in delicate pruning where you want precise cuts at the branch collar.
Climbers often carry a big Silky on the saddle as the main pruning tool and leave the top-handle saw for removals.
Keep the blade in its scabbard any time it is not in your hand, and clip the scabbard securely to your saddle so it does not swing. A long blade is sharp along its full length, so watch your rope, lanyard, and legs when you are cutting close. More options are in hand saws and scabbards.
Wipe sap off the blade after use and keep it dry to prevent rust. Silky blades are hard to sharpen well, so most climbers swap in a replacement blade when it gets dull or bent. Confirm the replacement blade part fits your handle before ordering.

Yes. Silky sells replacement blades. Confirm the part matches your saw before ordering.
Many climbers carry it, but it is a long blade. Keep it in a secure scabbard and be careful around your rope and lanyard.
