PruningClimbing

The Silky Zubat replacement blade in fine tooth fits the Zubat handle and scabbard and gives a smoother cut than the standard tooth. It suits climbers who do a lot of detail pruning on smaller limbs.

Fine tooth or standard

The standard Zubat tooth cuts fast through mid-size limbs. The fine tooth trades a little speed for a smoother finish and less tearing, which helps on pruning cuts to a branch collar, small live wood and ornamental trees where a clean cut matters.

Silky's impulse-hardened teeth stay sharp a long time, but they are not made to be filed. When the blade dulls, bends or loses teeth, a new blade brings the saw back to new for much less than a complete saw.

A spare blade in the truck is cheap insurance. If a blade snaps or loses teeth halfway through a pruning job, you can swap it on the spot and keep working instead of borrowing a saw from another climber. Keep the old handle and scabbard; only the blade wears out.

Fitting and care

Match the blade length to your Zubat handle and scabbard. The blade swaps with a screw at the handle; seat it fully and tighten before use. Wear gloves while handling the bare blade.

Wipe sap off with a little solvent or oil, and keep the saw in its scabbard. Never twist the blade in the cut or use it to pry. Find more replacement blades.

Wipe the blade dry before it goes back in the scabbard to keep rust off the teeth.
