PruningClimbing

This Notch blade is a 13 in tri-edge pruning saw blade made for fast cutting in green wood. It is a replacement blade, so you can swap in a fresh edge instead of buying a whole new saw.

Where it works

A 13 in blade is a good middle size for climbers and ground workers: long enough to clear limbs a few inches thick, short enough to handle in tight crowns. The tri-edge teeth cut on the pull stroke, which keeps the blade straight and gives clean, quick cuts in live wood.

Use it for pruning cuts where a chainsaw is overkill or too risky, such as near the trunk collar or close to your rope.

Tri-edge teeth have three cutting faces per tooth, which clears sawdust quickly and keeps the blade from binding in wet, fibrous wood. That makes the blade a good fit for summer pruning when the wood is full of sap.

Fit and care

Confirm the blade matches your Notch saw handle or scabbard before ordering. Wipe sap off after use, keep it dry, and store it in a scabbard. Impulse-hardened teeth are not meant to be filed, so replace the blade when it starts to drag. Find more options under replacement blades.

Swap blades with the saw in a safe position on the ground, not in the tree, and confirm the blade is locked in before climbing. Keep a spare blade in the truck so a dull or bent blade does not slow down a pruning job.
