A bullet-shaped throw weight that slips through tight branch unions.
The Splice Shop Deluxe Bullet throw weight is a narrow, bullet-shaped throw bag made to slip through tight crotches and clutter that catch a round bag. Clip it to your throw line and use it to set climbing and rigging lines from the ground.
A round throw bag works fine in open canopy, but in dense crowns it catches every small twig and wedges in narrow unions. A bullet-shaped weight leads with a narrow nose, so it slips through clutter and drops more cleanly on the far side of the limb. That means fewer re-throws and fewer bags stuck in the tree. A good throw weight is one of the cheapest ways to speed up the start of every climb.
Most climbers carry more than one weight size. Lighter bags for low shots and thin line, heavier ones for high shots and when you need the bag to pull line back down.
Clear the drop zone before every throw and call out so the crew knows a weight is coming down. Watch for power lines, which are a serious hazard for throw lines and climbing lines alike. Never stand under the weight as it falls back. If a weight hangs up, do not yank hard on thin line; work it free or pull it down with care.
Inspect the bag and attachment ring for wear and replace a damaged bag before it lets go mid-throw. Browse the rest of our throw weights and line for line, cubes, and kits.

Standard arborist throw lines in common diameters. Match the bag weight to the line and the height you are throwing.
In tight or cluttered canopy it often is. In open trees either works, so many climbers carry both.
