A compact gear bag for keeping a climbing kit together and off the truck floor.
The R-Easy RKS 30 gear bag is a compact bag for carrying a climbing kit from the truck to the tree. The 30 size suits a personal kit of hardware, hitch cords and a short rope rather than a full crew load.
A bag in this size holds the everyday kit: a rope wrench or mechanical device, a few carabiners, hitch cords, a pulley, a lanyard and maybe a short climbing line. It is not meant for a 200 foot rigging rope or a full saddle with everything clipped on. Many climbers keep one small bag for hardware and a separate rope bag for lines.
If you need more room, look at larger options in our gear bags section. This listing was once a pre-order item, so check current availability before you plan around it.
A smaller bag is also easier to carry up a ladder or hang on a branch stub at the base of the tree, so your kit stays off wet ground while you set up. Look for a bag that opens wide enough to see what is inside at a glance.
The real job of a gear bag is to keep life-support gear away from fuel, bar oil, battery acid and sharp tools in the truck. Pack soft goods so they are not crushed under hardware, and never store a wet rope or harness zipped in a bag for days.
Empty the bag regularly, shake out grit and sawdust, and let it dry in the shade. Inspect your gear when you unpack it, not just when you climb.
