The Petzl Microflip replacement lanyard is the steel-core rope for the Microflip adjustable lanyard. It lets you keep your adjuster in service and replace only the lanyard rope when it wears out.

Why a wire core lanyard

Spur climbers on removals spend the day with a saw running close to their flipline. A wire core lanyard has a steel cable inside the rope, which gives far more resistance to an accidental touch from the chain than an all-fiber line. It is not saw-proof, but it buys margin where it matters most. Keep the saw on the opposite side of the lanyard when you can, and slow down near the rope.

The Microflip adjuster lets you lengthen and shorten the lanyard one-handed while staying positioned on the stem. This replacement lanyard lets you renew the worn rope without buying a whole new kit.

Choosing a length and replacing

Pick a length that wraps the largest stems you climb with enough tail left to work. Longer lanyards cover big trunks but add weight and loose rope. Install it exactly as Petzl's instructions describe, and check that the adjuster grips and releases properly before you trust it at height.

Retire a lanyard with any cut through the sheath, exposed or kinked wire, crushing, or heat damage. Life-support gear must meet the applicable standard, be used per ANSI Z133 and Petzl's instructions, and be inspected by a trained climber. See other fliplines and lanyards here.
