A rope-pull bypass pruner head that mounts on a pole for clean cuts out of reach.
This Husqvarna fixed pulley pruner is a rope-operated pruner head that mounts to a pole with the included adapter. It makes clean, flush cuts on small limbs and suckers that are out of reach, without a saw.
A pole pruner does the small, fussy cuts a pole saw does poorly: water sprouts, suckers, deadwood twigs, and fine thinning cuts where you want a clean collar cut instead of a ragged saw kerf. The pulley in the head multiplies your pull on the rope, so the blade closes with more force than a straight lever would give you.
Most crews carry a pruner head and a saw head for the same pole set and swap between them as the job changes. Check that the adapter matches your poles before you head out. You can find poles and complete setups in our poles and kits section.
Keep the blade sharp and the pivot clean and lightly oiled; a dull pruner crushes bark instead of cutting it. Check the pull rope for wear where it runs through the pulley and replace it before it frays through. Do not force the head on wood larger than it is built to cut, since that bends the blade and opens up the bypass gap.
Wear eye protection and a helmet when cutting overhead. Never use a pole tool near energized power lines unless you are a qualified line-clearance worker following ANSI Z133.

It mounts with the included adapter. Confirm the adapter matches your pole system before buying.
Pole pruners are meant for small limbs. Use a pole saw for anything thick enough that the pruner strains to close.
