PruningMaintenance

A female ferrule with spring clip is the socket end of a sectional pruning pole joint. The spring button on the mating male ferrule snaps into it, locking the sections together so the pole does not twist or pull apart.

What a ferrule does

Sectional poles connect through metal ferrules: a male end with a spring button and a female socket that the button snaps into. A worn or bent ferrule lets sections wobble, twist or separate, which makes the pole hard to control and can drop the saw head. This is the female half for replacing a damaged socket.

Match the ferrule to your pole's diameter and connection style before ordering. Poles and kits are on our poles and kits page.

Ferrules wear from grit, from twisting the pole while it is loaded, and from dropping sections on hard ground. Replacing a damaged one is far cheaper than a new pole section and keeps your pole kit tight and predictable.

Fitting and checking

Install it per the pole maker's instructions so it is fully seated and secure. Before each use, check that every joint locks with a click and does not rotate. Clean grit out of the socket so the spring clip engages fully.

Metal ferrules conduct electricity. Do not use sectional poles near power lines unless you are a qualified line-clearance arborist using tested equipment and keeping ANSI Z133 approach distances. Store poles where ferrules will not be stepped on or crushed.
