Replacement return spring for Jameson heavy duty pole pruner heads.
The Jameson heavy duty pruner spring returns the blade to the open position after each pull on a Jameson pole pruner. A worn spring makes the head sluggish, and a broken one leaves you flicking the pole to reopen the jaw.
Pole pruners get used hard on line clearance, orchard and storm work. The spring is the part that keeps the blade ready for the next cut, and it is usually the first thing to tire out. If the blade opens slowly, stops partway or the spring is visibly stretched with gaps between coils, replace it.
Running a pruner with a bad spring wastes time on every cut and puts more strain on your shoulders, since you end up working the rope and the pole to reset the jaw.
Heat, sap and grit speed up spring fatigue, and so does storing the head with the blade pulled closed. Clean the head at the end of the day and store it with the jaw open where you can. Even with good care, a spring is a consumable part. Buying two at a time means the next one is already in the truck when the blade starts dragging. Keep a small parts box in the truck with the springs, bolts and links your heads use. A ten minute repair in the yard beats losing half a day of pole work to a part you could have had on hand.
Note how the old spring hooks to the blade and the head, then fit the new one in the same spot. Work the head through a few full strokes. The blade should open crisply and close fully against the hook.
While you are there, check the blade for nicks and the bolts for wear. Confirm the spring matches your head before ordering. For poles and complete pruners, browse our poles and pole kits range.
