Rope-operated pole pruner head for cutting overhead limbs from the ground.
The Corona Bull tree pruner head is a rope-operated pole pruner head for cutting overhead branches from the ground. Mounted on a pole, it lets ground crews and climbers make clean cuts on small limbs without a saw.
A pole pruner head is the go-to for clearing small limbs overhead, lifting a canopy over a driveway or taking deadwood out of a small tree without climbing. Pulling the rope closes the blade, and the leverage built into the head does most of the work.
It is best on smaller-diameter live wood where a clean cut matters. For larger limbs, switch to a pole saw rather than forcing the pruner, which can bend the blade or crush the branch.
Pole pruner heads wear at the blade, the pivot and the rope pulley. When a head starts to mash branches rather than cut them, a new head is usually a better fix than fighting a worn one. Keep a spare rope on the truck too, since a frayed rope can snap mid-cut.
Stand to the side of the branch, not under it, and wear a helmet and eye protection. Never use a pole tool near power lines unless it is rated for that work and you are qualified. Keep the blade clean and sharp, oil the pivot, and check the rope for wear. Replace the rope or head when they are damaged. See more pruning tools in our pruners and loppers section.
