Husqvarna Classic Hand Pruner

The Husqvarna Classic hand pruner is a bypass pruning shear for small live branches, suckers and fine detail work. It is the tool you reach for when a saw is overkill and a clean cut matters.

Where it fits on the job

Good pruning cuts start with the right tool. A bypass pruner slices like scissors, leaving a clean edge that seals well on live wood, unlike an anvil pruner that tends to crush. On a structural prune or a crown clean, a hand pruner handles suckers, water sprouts and small laterals faster than a saw.

Climbers carry one on the saddle for detail work, and ground crews use them for cleaning up shrubs, dressing cuts and trimming brush before it goes through the chipper.

For arborists, cut quality matters as much as speed. A clean bypass cut just outside the branch collar gives the tree the best chance to close the wound. Use and care

Stay within the pruner's capacity. Twisting through a stem that is too big springs the blades and leaves a ragged cut. Switch to a hand saw for anything larger. Wipe sap off the blades after use, oil the pivot and keep the edge sharp with a fine stone.
