Jameson CompositLock Big Mouth Pruner

The Jameson CompositLock Big Mouth pruner is the wide-jaw Big Mouth pole pruner head made to fit Jameson's CompositLock pole connection. If your kit runs CompositLock poles, this is the Big Mouth version that mounts directly.

Matching your pole system

Pole tools are only as good as their connections. Jameson offers heads for different pole fittings, and the CompositLock version of the Big Mouth is for crews whose poles use that system. Matching head and pole avoids adapters and the play that comes with them.

The Big Mouth jaw takes larger stems than a standard pruner head, so you can handle more cuts before switching to a pole saw.

As with any pole pruner, the head is only part of the system. Good poles, a sound pull rope and fresh springs make the difference between clean cuts and fighting the tool all day. Before heading out, check that the head is locked fully on the pole, the rope runs free through the pulley and the blade opens and closes fully. Keep a spare spring and rope in the truck. Store the head clean and dry, and replace a bent blade or worn link instead of forcing the tool through cuts.

Use and care

Seat the hook fully over the limb before pulling, and cut just outside the branch collar. Keep the blade sharp, clean sap off after use and replace the spring and rope when they wear.
