Rig Guy finishing caps cover the ends of cable and hardware once a tree cabling system is installed. They give the job a clean finish and help keep cut strand ends from fraying or snagging.

Finishing the job properly

A cut strand end left bare can unravel over time and snag a climber's rope or a hand during later inspections. A finishing cap covers the end so the system looks finished and the end stays tidy.

Caps are sized to the cable or hardware they cover. Match them to the parts you used for the install.

Finishing caps also make inspections easier, since a cap that is missing or damaged is a quick visual sign to look closer at that part of the system. Keep a few spares in the kit so caps lost during install can be replaced on the spot.

Install and inspect

Fit caps after the system is tensioned and terminated. They are a finishing part, not a structural one, so never rely on a cap to hold anything. At each inspection, check that caps are still in place and that the hardware beneath is sound. Cabling and bracing is structural work on a living tree. It should be specified and installed by a trained arborist following ANSI A300 Part 3, ANSI Z133 and the hardware maker's instructions, and inspected on a regular schedule after install. See more parts in our cabling hardware section.

Order caps with the rest of the job's hardware so the install can be finished in one visit to the tree.
