Beveled washer that seats cabling hardware evenly on a rounded stem.
The Rig Guy beveled washer has an angled face that seats against the curve of a stem, so cabling hardware pulls down evenly. It helps hardware sit square to the load instead of rocking on a rounded surface.
Leaders are round, and a flat washer on a curved surface only touches in a couple of spots. That can let the nut bite into the bark or let the hardware cock to one side. A beveled washer seats better on the curve so the load is shared more evenly.
Match the washer to the hardware diameter and the rest of the Rig Guy parts you are using. Mixing systems can leave gaps or poor seating.
Washers that do not seat cleanly can let water collect and speed corrosion around the hardware. A beveled washer that fits the stem helps shed water and keeps the hardware tight, which helps the system last longer between inspections.
Seat the washer with the bevel matched to the stem, snug the nut firmly, and avoid cutting away bark to seat it. Check washers and nuts at each inspection for rust, loosening and wood growing over the hardware. Cabling and bracing is structural work on a living tree. It should be specified and installed by a trained arborist following ANSI A300 Part 3, ANSI Z133 and the hardware maker's instructions, and inspected on a regular schedule after install. Use a beveled washer where the stem curve would stop a flat washer from seating fully.
Check that the hole size and fit match your hardware. A matched system usually seats best.
