This replacement panel fits the Stein modular guard system, a portable screen set up around a stump grinding job to help contain flying chips and stones. Replace a damaged panel to keep the barrier complete.

Why use a debris guard

Stump grinders throw chips, dirt, and stones a long way. Near houses, cars, windows, and sidewalks, a portable guard set up around the stump adds a barrier on top of the machine's own guards.

A modular system lets you shape the screen to the job and replace one panel when it gets damaged. See more in our stump grinding section.

Guards are especially useful on tight residential lots, near glass, and along driveways and roads. A full screen reduces the chance of a thrown stone hitting a window or a car.

Setup and inspection

Set panels on the side where people, property, or traffic are at risk, and keep the screen stable. Inspect panels for tears, holes, or bent frames, and replace any that are damaged.

A guard does not replace an exclusion zone. Keep bystanders clear, and wear eye, face, and hearing protection when grinding.

Store panels flat or stacked so the frames don't get bent in the truck. A complete, undamaged guard is much more effective than one with a missing panel. Check panel connections and stakes before each job, and replace any panel with a torn screen. Panels are lighter and easier to handle than a full sheet of plywood, and they set up quickly on uneven ground.
