GroundMaintenancePro grade

These 700 series stump grinder teeth are compatible replacements for cutter wheels using 700-style tooth pockets. Fresh carbide keeps a small or mid-size grinder cutting cleanly instead of bouncing off the stump.

Keeping a grinder cutting

Stump grinding is hard on teeth. Dirt, sand, and hidden rocks wear carbide quickly, and a wheel with a few broken tips cuts unevenly and vibrates. When you see more dust than chips or the machine starts bogging, inspect every tooth.

Replace teeth with chipped or missing carbide, and rotate teeth that can be turned to a fresh edge.

Rental and smaller self-propelled grinders often use 700-style systems, so these are common stock items for crews that grind lots of small stumps.

On sandy or rocky sites, expect teeth to wear much faster than on clean loam. Raking back dirt and checking for rocks before you start, and grinding in controlled sweeps rather than plunging deep, both help a set of teeth last longer.

Fitting tips

Shut down and lock out the grinder before touching the wheel. Clean the pockets, fit the teeth in the correct orientation, and torque the hardware to spec. Check bolts and pockets for wear while you are there; a loose tooth can damage the wheel.

Keep a written record of when teeth were changed and how many stumps the set has done. It makes it easier to spot when a wheel is wearing unusually fast, which can point to rocky sites or loose hardware.

Wear eye and face protection when grinding and keep bystanders well back. More stump grinder teeth and parts are in this section.
